February Snow and Ice

Oh my goodness! February and the snow flies. Actually it wasn't the snow that bothered me, it was the ice. Many people were late for work, if they got there at all. Many children were happy that their school was closed. Some children were happy that they were able to complete their assignments through e-learning. E-learning - what on earth? I do understand that some areas made the decision to close schools. Not all of the teachers could use e-learning from home and in their area, it just wasn't safe for them to drive to the school and try to teach and then drive back home. It made perfect sense to be as safe as they could be. For pete's sake, most of the state was in the red, no one should have been on the roads unless they had no choice in the matter. I get it, we still need health care workers and other public service employees that really can't just call and say sorry, I can't make it in today. I am sure many of the health care workers stayed in the building so they wouldn't have to make the drive again. And it just made sense. They had extra uniforms with them and who wants to spend an hour white knuckled behind the wheel of a car. You never know who is coming at you or if the person behind you can stop! E-learning for elementary is tricky. The kids seem to enjoy it!!! It is great that the school is teaching them at the elementary level how to use the devices. I think our teachers did a great job! They didn't pack on the work and they were online all day for the children if they had questions. I remember last year when the kids were having gym class right in the middle of the living room. Well, it had to be done. But this year isn't so bad. I can live with gym in the living room if it keeps everyone safe.
