February Snow and Ice

Oh my goodness! February and the snow flies. Actually it wasn't the snow that bothered me, it was the ice. Many people were late for work, if they got there at all. Many children were happy that their school was closed. Some children were happy that they were able to complete their assignments through e-learning. E-learning - what on earth? I do understand that some areas made the decision to close schools. Not all of the teachers could use e-learning from home and in their area, it just wasn't safe for them to drive to the school and try to teach and then drive back home. It made perfect sense to be as safe as they could be. For pete's sake, most of the state was in the red, no one should have been on the roads unless they had no choice in the matter. I get it, we still need health care workers and other public service employees that really can't just call and say sorry, I can't make it in today. I am sure many of the health care workers stayed in the building so they wouldn't have to make the drive again. And it just made sense. They had extra uniforms with them and who wants to spend an hour white knuckled behind the wheel of a car. You never know who is coming at you or if the person behind you can stop! E-learning for elementary is tricky. The kids seem to enjoy it!!! It is great that the school is teaching them at the elementary level how to use the devices. I think our teachers did a great job! They didn't pack on the work and they were online all day for the children if they had questions. I remember last year when the kids were having gym class right in the middle of the living room. Well, it had to be done. But this year isn't so bad. I can live with gym in the living room if it keeps everyone safe.

Welcome to 2022

Another year is now in the books. In my 60+ years, I don't recall living is such a crazy world. Masking up and using gloves while going shopping. Not being able to let my child try on clothing. She outgrew everything over the summer! Not being able to see family members in Assisted Nursing Facilities. Not being able to attend a funeral in person. No one checks on their neighbors anymore. They try to stay safe for their own family. I don't even want to talk about distance learning for the elementery schools. PE in the house! I usually don't mind, but most folks don't like children running and jumping in the house. Especially when you are dealing with so many things at one time. Have you ever tried to have a conversation with a child while they are "in" PE class. It can be a hoot!!! I don't want another year like that. I don't want people to be afraid to knock on a neighbors door. I dont' want so many people in the hospital not knowing if they will ever return home. I want to see my family! I want to hug and kiss my grandchildren. I want things to go back to as "normal- whatever that means" as it can. I want to go out and eat with family. I want to try on clothing at the store. My list can go on and on. I am sure yours would too. I am not here to say I am for nor against vaccination. I am getting older day by day and all I want is to be able to see my family. To talk to my neighbors. To hug again! Maybe that is what I miss the most, my grandchildren running through the front door and give me the biggest hug and the wettest kiss there is. I promise you at this point, I will not mind. I have tried to work on myself during this time. Is it easy, no. Do you know how easy it is to just grab something to eat? I didn't either. I am in a Truvy group. We have a LOT of people there. We share experiences, recipes, tips and tricks to lose weight. Between the 2 weeks of Christmas and New Years, I happened to lose 4 pounds. Something I could never have done without my tools (picture below). That particular kit is over $300 but you can get it for $169 by using my link. Interested in joining the facebook group but not purchasing anything yet - let me know. I will add you. Closing for now, but keep in touch. It's been way too long since I have been able to sit and write.
