Monday Sept 22nd...
Today was a little stressful, well, ok, it was a lot of "stuff". I just can't believe how much it takes to make sure people have the items they need to do their job properly. I just can't go into it here, it is something that will need to be corrected on a different level.
But I have a great friend, Helen. She reminded me that no matter what, I will always come home. And no matter what, when I get home, it no longer matters.
I called my daughter and asked if I could take her three girls out for a milk shake after school. I wound up taking her AND the girls to mcdonalds. We had tea and the girls had shakes. They can make me forget everything except what we are talking about. Brandys meds are working for her. I am so glad that she can actually concentrate on her assignments. She was so sweet! Ana is growing up fast. She acts like a mother hen, but so does Brandy. And Gracie, well Gracie is beginning to talk in full sentences. Bless her heart. When I would go to their house, she would scream, mommy. I kept correcting her and saying grandma, but now I am mammy to her and that is just fine with me.
No matter how sucky my day is, those precious children can change my attitude. Life wouldn't be the same without them.
Bill, Moose and Reed are camping and fishing. It's going to get a little cold tonight, I sure hope they stay warm tonight. They took plenty of wood, blankets, and camper. I am sure that by now Reed is safely tucked away in the bunk with Bill. Well, bedtime at the homestead, another day tomorrow.
Hopefully soon I will have either a new book or item to review.
Take care,
Beth

2014 Porter Reunion
Today was so great! Today was the Porter Reunion. Many family members were there and some I haven't seen in years! I really don't have the words to express how it feels to see Great Aunts & Uncles, cousins by the dozens, and all of the children. It was great! Thank you to Aunt Maxine and her husband Joe for all of the years they have been putting this together. Now, Debbie Erwin has volunteered to coordinate this. That is a big job, but I am sure she is up to it. Great food, company and a great time had by all. It's really a shame those that we lost last year. I know its a part of life, but dang does it hurt. Hopefully those that came this year will continue. You never know when it will be the last, we all need to enjoy it. Have a great night !

Tonight
I wanted to write for a while tonight, but I can't. Since I've been home tonight I have learned of the little girl in Indianapolis who was shot and died, the plane that crashed today and the two men aboard who didn't make it. Now they are talking about the man in Florida who shot his daughter and grandchildren. Seriously, a three month old! And then turned the gun on himself. That really makes me angry that he would hurt children. I just can't. Maybe tomorrow night and I can talk about something uplifting.
Goodnight
Take care
Beth

Sept 12 Beth and Ivy Tech
The other night while writing, I told you we all had our own story before winding up at Ivy Tech. I am no different. Summer 1996, I was waiting tables over at Western Sizzling. I was making $2.13 an hour plus tips. I didn't really want to do that for the rest of my life. I knew there had to be something better.
Thought a series of events I found myself at Ivy Tech taking the placement assessment. Within a few weeks I was taking a full load (12 credit hours for the summer, are you kidding me) and still working waiting tables. One day while talking with the financial aid director the subject of workstudy came up. Wow, pay me to work at the college while taking classes and still wait tables, I could do that. It paid minimum wage, but hey,it was so much easier than waiting tables.
I began working at the library. My supervisor was Sarah. It wasn't long until Susan became the new librarian and my life began changing yet again. Susan taught me so much about the library and my classes seemed to be fairly easy, I was in a good spot. So good that I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society of two year colleges. The induction was amazing and my parents were bursting with pride before, during, and after induction. They are still very proud of me.
While working for Susan, I also worked on the weekends waiting tables. I did a little community service by talking to student groups at Owen Valley High School about how easy it is to get involves with drugs and things they could do to prevent getting in a situation where they could be pressured into taking them. It must of caught someone's attention because in April 1998, I received an award from the Indiana Conference of Higher Education for outstanding dedication and commitment to community service. I am going to take the plaque to my new office at the main building at Ivy Tech. As a first generation, adult learner, I wasn't doing too bad.
Susan began telling me I needed to apply for jobs on campus. Right, a college is going to hire someone without a degree, I highly doubt that. Susan explained that even if I didn't get hired, it would give me some experience interviewing. With nothing to lose, I began updating my resume and making it a working resume rather than chronological. That's a whole different story that will be explained in a book by BethE that will be coming out next year. Currently the plan is it will be titled "From Family and Friends to the Feds". Susan helped me polish my resume and I was very careful about the positions I applied for. Susan was right. In January,1998, I began working as a records clerk in the Office of the Registrar. I was in the library working and the Director of HR ay the time was J. Heizen. He, Diana Jacobs, and Pat Stockram came to the library to offer me the position. Of course I accepted and for about five months I kept waiting tables too.
I don't think it was very long after I was hired when Pat needed to move. Now there was an opening for a new college Registrar. I don't know all of the candidates, but I do know who was hired, that was Jennie Vaughan. Jennie was my new supervisor. My life has never been the same since.
Enough for tonight. I'm still thinking about all of the people I know who have worked themselves to death, those that are ill, and those that are no longer with us. Life is short, really short. We only get one go around, we need to be the best person we can be. I keep saying we need to educate and take care of our children because they will be the adults taking care of us and this world when we are no longer able. Let's do it right.
More in a few days. Take care my friends.

Garcinia Cambogia Supreme 80% HCA Review
I thought I would be able to give a great review for this product, but alas, it was not to be. I have followed the instructions for almost 3 weeks now and there is no difference, no weight reduction, no loss of inches, nothing. Because I had to post my review by 09/15, I needed to get this out there.
There is a statement on the bottle that sometimes 2 a day doesn't work and you need to use 4. I thought I would try that for the next couple of weeks and re-review if there were a change.
Have a great day!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.#review

Sept 10
Another day. As the day winds down, I think of the emotional roller coaster that today brought. Life is short. Life is to short to work yourself to death. I don't want to work until I am 62. I think I am eligible in August 2017. If that's it, then I'm done then. As I look around today, I see so many things.
My friend had knee surgery. Simple outpatient surgery. A week later, she almost died. She got a blood clot in her leg, it swelled up to about five times bigger than it should be and for the rest of her life she has to wear compression socks. She was home, but on strict bed rest. Notice I said was. Today she woke up with her leg three time what it should be. She went back to the hospital. No word yet, all we can do is pray for her because she is still not out of the woods. She spent her first Anniversary in the hospital. One of the folks that retired has had an accident and several surgeries with a lot more medical procedures to come. Thankfully his wife retire too and is there to help him. Another friend retired on a Friday and passed on Monday.
The good news is there is a couple getting married soon. They are so happy and starting a new chapter in their life. I wish them well.
So as you can see, today has caused me to stop and think.
Yes, I will have to have income, but you know, I think I can live without some things. We won't have any car payments then, only house payment, utilities, groceries and clothing. We are so very lucky with our home. Our house payments are only 320 a month. I just want to have time to make memories with my grandchildren. I don't want them to wish they would have known us better. I want to make them laugh, sing, and be silly. I want them to enjoy life and make the best choices they can. Have no regrets. I want them to go to college and pick a great careerand to have a great life.
Tomorrow will be here before I know. I really need my beauty sleep. Goodnight my friends, more later.
Beth
